Welcome to Eat Well Thymes – the blog for Eat Well Meal Plans. Here I will discuss current topics regarding the food we eat, the way we eat it, and what we can do to make sure we have access to safe and nutritious food. I’ll even through in a bonus recipe from time to time.
Eat Well Meal Plans is a healthy meal planning service that I created in response to seeing a void in the nutrition information available. I found that as a dietitian I could explain how to plan and prepare healthy foods and even create a week’s worth of sample meals for my nutrition counseling clients. After that sample week was used I would always wonder, did they get it? Could they understand how to continue with the pattern I created for them? Or would they get frustrated.
Although my counseling centers around changing eating behavior, my clients’ success also requires reinforcing the use of healthier cooking methods and food choices. I needed a resource for healthy meals that could be put on the table with a reasonable amount of time and effort on the most time-crunched days of the week – Monday through Friday.
So I’ve created that resource and that’s what I’ll provide for you. I lean toward the principles of the Mediterranean Food Pyramid. I’d also like to make you aware of the benefits of local and seasonal food. Although these foods may vary from location to location depending on where you live, we will recognize a general seasonal trend. The cycle of seasonal foods can be something to look forward to and can contribute to good health and save you money at the same time. Stay tuned!
